The Almendares Alacranes picked up a win at Recinto de Almendares, knocking off the Pinar del Rio Guajiros, 5-4. Starting pitcher Juan Martínez was a big reason why. Almendares is second in the Torneo del Occidente División de Pinar del Río with a record of 24-34.

Telmo Arroyo took Raúl Pérez deep in the bottom of the fifth. His 2-run home run put the Alacranes on top, 5-4. In all, Arroyo had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Martínez.
