A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Barranquitas Proceres and Utuado Montaneses.

Behind the bravura of second baseman Luis Cruz, the Barranquitas Proceres topped the Utuado Montaneses by the score of 11-7. Cruz was 4-4 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for the Proceres. Barranquitas reliever Gerardo Escobar was the winner. His record is now 29-17. The losing pitcher was Isaac García.

Cruz had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-1 splitter from Isaac García, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Proceres a 8-7 lead. It was the 35th double of the year for Cruz.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Cruz told the Barranquitas Citizen.

The 'W' lifts Barranquitas's record to 80-49.
