In a tight contest at Parque de los Capitanes, the Mayaguez Capitanes edged the Trujillo Alto Macabeos by the score of 7-6. Mayaguez first baseman Fernando Martínez, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Mayaguez, at 78-49, sits in second place in the Liga Hostos Oeste.

Segundo Román contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped Mayaguez get the win.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Román told the Mayaguez Today. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
