Newport Grounds was the site of a competitive game between the Cardiff Arcadians and Newport Stevedores.

Behind an impressive start by Rutilio Rivera, Newport beat Cardiff, 4-2. The second-place Stevedores are 64-50.

The Stevedores got a big hit from second baseman Nathan Sutherland. In the bottom of the fifth, Sutherland pounded a run-scoring triple to left-center. His 31st triple of the season put the Stevedores ahead, 2-0.

"I found a nice groove out there," said Rivera.
