Cardiff starter Ashley Watts pitched well against the Newport Stevedores at Newport Grounds. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. The victory gives Cardiff a record of 58-54.

Alex Powell helped the Cardiff cause with two out in the top of the seventh. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cardiff leading 1-0, he reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Watts said.
