The Newport Stevedores defeated the Bangor Bishops, 2-1, in Great British Base-Off action at Newport Grounds. Newport pitcher Downey Kennedy had a standout performance. Kennedy got the win, improving to 21-11. He allowed 10 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. Kennedy allowed 1 run. The win for the Stevedores raised their record to 62-47.

Rufino García's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth was significant for the Stevedores. Coming to the plate with runners on 1st and 2nd and Newport trailing 1-0, the Stevedores first baseman reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run.
