The Newport Stevedores outlasted the Swansea Copper Lords in an extra-inning thriller.

The Newport Stevedores picked up a win at Copper Lords Park, knocking off the Swansea Copper Lords, 4-3. Starting pitcher Douglas Stevens was a big reason why. Stevens picked up the win for Newport, going 11 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 18-11. Oscar Sims earned the save, his 1st.

Newport used the timely hitting of Greg Balthrop to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Stevedores on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Stevens said.

Newport is second in the All-Team Circuit Undeb Pel-fas Cymru with a record of 51-40.
