The Belfast Bards took Galway pitcher Hanly Foster's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bards Park. The final score had Belfast getting past the Harbourmasters, 5-4. Foster went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 0. Belfast reliever Garvin Kennedy was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Steven Kay took the loss. Belfast is now 20-10, while Galway is 14-16.
The Bards were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Orlando Sánchez turned a 2-2 fastball from Steven Kay into a 2-run single. The walk-off single electrified the Bards Park denizens and sent the Bards home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Sánchez.
