Gulls Get Dramatic 10-9 Win
A 4-RBI performance from the 21-year old first baseman Herb Backstrom helped the Galveston Gulls beat the New Braunfels Yodelers, 10-9. John Wareham picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 15-15. Santiago Martín was tagged with the loss. The Gulls move to 48-48 with the win, while the Yodelers drop to 49-47.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Galveston trailing 9-8, Ron Stringer hit a sinker from Santiago Martín to right for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Gulls had a walk-off win.

"A great game, a great day," said Backstrom about the win. "I can't complain."
