Pecan Kings Lose, 8-1
|
Dacio Colón pitched a gem to lead Beaumont to victory over the Tyler Pecan Kings, 8-1. Colón, now 2-7, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The Alpinists raised their record to 47-49.
Tomás Guzmán, the 32-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Guzmán contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Beaumont up, 1-0.
"We came out aggressive," said Alpinists manager Apolonio Alfonso. "We came out swinging the bats."
