Ortiz Stars in 9-3 Win for Nacogdoches
|
The first-place Nacogdoches Roaches picked up another win.
In the 9-3 Nacogdoches win over San Marcos, the impact of Timoteo Ortiz was substantial. Ortiz, who finished 5th in the ETXA in RBI with 72 last year, was 4 for 5 with 3 triples and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. With the win, Nacogdoches goes to 23-16, while the Cadavers fall to 19-20.
Ortiz contributed a big hit, a 2-run triple, for Nacogdoches in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Ortiz took a fastball from Livio Fernández and stroked the triple to right-center. His 8th triple of the season allowed the Roaches to leap in front, 4-3.
