Beaumont and Galveston duked it out and the Alpinists came out victorious.

The Beaumont Alpinists took Galveston pitcher John Wareham's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Gulls Park. The final score had Beaumont getting past the Gulls, 5-4. Wareham went 9 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 5. Beaumont reliever Hiram Díaz picked up the win, upping his record to 4-6. Eric Smith absorbed the loss.

The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Beaumont pinch hitter Andrónico Alfaro. In the top of the tenth inning, with two out and a runner on 3rd, Alfaro hit a run-scoring single to help Beaumont seize the win.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Alfaro told the Beaumont Daily News.

The Alpinists now have a record of 15-22.
