In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

The Galveston Gulls trumped the Luling Lavender Stockings, 9-4, at Gulls Park. Galveston first baseman John Vivian was terrific. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2. Jerry Trowsdale, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-2. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 11 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2.

Fulgencio Cruz contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run. It was one at-bat that helped Galveston get the win.

"I still think this team can play even better," Vivian told the Galveston Herald.

At 16-8, the Gulls are currently first in the Association of Eastern Texas Galveston Circuit.
