Tyler got a terrific game from center fielder Jesse Pallard. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Luling, 12-8. Pallard went 2-3 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs. The Lavender Stockings, now 12-6, have been red hot.

Serafín Soto, the five-time Thornglove winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Soto contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Luling up, 2-1.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Luling manager Jimmy Hallinan.
