Loiza picked up a win at Estadio de los Vejigantes, toppling the Carolina Gigantes, 7-6. Pitcher Mario Vásquez was one of the reasons the Vejigantes triumphed. With the loss, Carolina sinks to 6-10.

Had Menendo Tafoya not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Tafoya hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Vejigantes.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Vásquez said. "That's how it goes."
