Layabouts third baseman Ken Barnes put his stamp on his team's 7-5 win over the Amarillo Horizons. Barnes was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs for Lubbock in the contest. Lubbock, at 29-25, sits in third place in the Association of Western Texas Abilene Circuit.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Greg Steward came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Amarillo pitcher Kian Sells, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lubbock on top, 5-4.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Barnes said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
