Ghost Lights Lose Late, 5-2
|
Amarillo pitcher Willie McGill did his part in helping his team beat the Marfa Ghost Lights, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 9 innings, McGill surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 7. He allowed 2 runs. At 21-18, Amarillo is in third place in the Association of Western Texas Abilene Circuit.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Chris Senner to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Horizons on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Amarillo manager John Cassidy.
