The Abilene Preachers topped the Lubbock Layabouts, 7-2, in Association of Western Texas action at Layabouts Park. The standout performance belonged to Abilene pitcher and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, native Simón Galván. Galván, now 5-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 0, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The win gives Abilene a season record of 21-15.

Abilene first baseman Hugh Spurr gave his club a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and the Preachers leading 2-1, Spurr drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
