Phillies Resilient in 7-6 Win Over Boston
Starting pitcher Charlie Ferguson pitched well enough to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Boston Beaneaters, 7-6. Philadelphia is in 4th place in the National League with a record of 65-52.

The Phillies procured the win, in large part because of pinch hitter Sam Mertes. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Mertes.
