Cardinals Deal Reds 7-3 Setback
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Robison Field 1893-1919, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 7-3. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Dan Sheehan, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 9 innings, Sheehan surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. The third-place Cardinals are 62-49.

With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Duff Cooley lit into a sinker from Mike Smith for a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-3 in favor of the Cardinals. For the day, Cooley went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Cooley said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
