The Pittsburgh Pirates overcame a fine performance by St. Louis right fielder Jimmy Bannon to defeat the Cardinals, 8-5, at Robison Field 1893-1919. Bannon went 4 for 5 with 2 triples and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. The 7th-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 36-59.

Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Dan Lally to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pirates on top, 8-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Lally told the Pittsburgh Bulletin.
