The Perth Caber Tossers did little to support starter Kai Cockle against the Edinburgh Claymores, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Claymores, striking out 2 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Cockle allowed Perth to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said 'Kai, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Cockle told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
