Beaneaters Lose to Reds in Walk Off
The Cincinnati Reds weathered a fine game by Boston catcher Tom Daly to upend the Beaneaters, 6-5, at League Park II 1894-1901. Daly went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Mike Smith, the winning pitcher, improved to 11-8. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 13 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. With the win, Cincinnati upped its record to 47-37.

Bug Holliday was the walk-off hero for Cincinnati. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Reds right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This wasn't a good win," said Holliday. "It was a great win."
