Beaneaters Beat Giants, 5-1
|
The Boston Beaneaters defeated the New York Giants, 5-1, in National League action at Polo Grounds 1890-1910. Boston pitcher Bob Black had a standout performance. The Beaneaters raised their record to 47-32.
Boston took a 4-0 lead on Black's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which he hit off Jack Sharrott in the top of the sixth, propelled Boston to the win.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Boston skipper Adam Engelke.
