Reds Clip Giants, 8-7
The Cincinnati Reds topped the New York Giants, 8-7, in National League action at League Park II 1894-1901. The game was highlighted by the performance of Cincinnati first baseman Billy Earle. Cincinnati pitcher Pete Rex got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Jesse Burkett got the loss. Cincinnati occupies 4th place in the National League at 37-29.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Giants allowed the Reds to score the winning run.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Earle said.
