New York Topples St. Louis, 5-4
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from pitcher Ed Seward. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Giants won the game, 5-4. Seward threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Jack Sharrott, credited with the win, is now 6-15. He allowed 4 runs on 10 hits in 9 innings. New York, with the win, climbs to 19-46.
New York took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Lefty Johnson hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put New York in front, 3-2.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said New York skipper Chris Petty. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
