Cardinals Topple Giants, 8-3, as Long Shines
St. Louis second baseman Herman Long made his presence felt in the 8-3 Cardinals triumph over the New York Giants. Long went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was John McCarty. He's now 2-10. He went 9 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Cardinals. The Cardinals saw their record improve to 23-19.
