The Chicago Colts overcame a fine performance by Pittsburgh first baseman Otto Schomberg to defeat the Pirates, 6-5, at West Side Grounds 1894-1915. Schomberg went 4-5 with a home run and 2 triples, while scoring 3 runs. Allen Pitts, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-6. He pitched 9 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 5. With the win, Chicago raised its record to 22-18.

Bill Lange was the walk-off hero for Chicago. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Colts catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
