Beaneaters Deal Giants 6-5 Setback
The Boston Beaneaters picked up a win at Polo Grounds 1890-1910, knocking off the New York Giants, 6-5. Starting pitcher Jim Whitney was a big reason why. The Giants have now dropped 5 straight.

Boston center fielder Jim Manning contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 33rd hit of the season and put the Beaneaters ahead, 5-1.

"We'll put that win in the can," said Manning, "and go after the next one."
