In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

Behind a solid performance from catcher Jack Boyle, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates, 13-2. Boyle was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Reds. Mike Smith got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in 9 innings.

The Reds got an important contribution from third baseman Jim Keenan, who in the bottom of the first hit a changeup into right for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Reds ahead, 6-0.

"That game had disaster written all over it," said Pittsburgh skipper Bill Leisz. "I could feel it."

At 15-18, the Reds are currently 5th in the National League.
