The Pittsburgh Pirates downed the Boston Beaneaters, 13-7. The hitting star was shortstop Ben Conroy. Conroy went 4 for 6 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Pirates. With the win, Pittsburgh goes to 8-16.

The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Conroy delivered big-time for Pittsburgh, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Jim Whitney. The game-changing hit put the Pirates on top, 9-7.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Conroy.
