Fans of the Derby Rams who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Derby win over the visiting London Fog, 4-3. Lucas Smith started for the home team against Lewis Duff. Lucas Smith earned accolades for his performance.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, pitcher Liam Holmes won it for Derby. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Holmes hit a 0-2 slider from Lewis Duff for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.

"The most important thing is that we won," Holmes said.
