Peregrinos Lose By a Run at Catano, 7-6
|
Guardacostas center fielder Generoso Rivera put his stamp on his team's 7-6 win over the Hormigueros Peregrinos. Rivera went 2-5 with a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Catano in the contest. Catano pitcher Enrique Marín got the win, upping his record to 18-22. Alberto Silva got the loss. The third-place Guardacostas improved to 58-67.
Had Raúl Mendiola not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mendiola hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Guardacostas.
"We played hard and won," said Rivera. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
