|
Rincon Ingenieros starter Petronio Álvarez kept the Guanica Amigos hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-1 win. Álvarez, now 30-9, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Rincon is now 93-27, 16½ games up in the Liga Hostos Oeste.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Eduardo Moreno was at the plate when Rincon scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Ingenieros to go in front, 2-1.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Moreno told the Rincon Daily News.
