Alacranes Take Down Henequeneros, 3-2
The Almendares Alacranes did just enough to secure a victory over the Matanzas Henequeneros, 3-2, at Recinto de Almendares. Nobody did more than pitcher Juan Martínez. Martínez, now 7-4, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. With the win over Matanzas, the Alacranes improved to 16-21.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Martínez hit a splitter from Frank Groves for a run-scoring single. The Alacranes, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Martínez.
