Pinar del Rio third baseman Abundio Rodríguez had a 3-RBI game, which proved instrumental in his team beating the Matanzas Henequeneros, 8-7. Rodríguez picked up 2 singles and 1 double in the ballgame. Víctor Vives got credit for the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 7 runs on 11 hits in 7 innings. After losing, Matanzas is 9-8.
Rodríguez had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch cutter from Brent Mattern, he banged a bases-clearing double to left, giving the Guajiros a 8-5 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Rodríguez.
"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Rodríguez. "I just want to win ballgames."
