Macabeos Need Extra Frames to Get Past Esqueletos
Vieques got a terrific game from second baseman Cedro Martín. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Trujillo Alto, 7-6. Martín went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The win was credited to José Jiménez in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Aureliano Cavazos took the loss. Gerardo Martínez earned the save, his 1st, for the Macabeos.

Trujillo Alto used the timely hitting of Juan Quintero to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Macabeos on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Quintero. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."

Trujillo Alto occupies first place in the Liga Hostos Metro Este at 55-63.
