Cidra got a terrific game from first baseman Jesús Santiago. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Vega Baja, 9-6. Santiago went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Vega Baja starter Luis Carrillo was credited with the win after throwing 156 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 8-25. With the win, the Caneros improved to 43-74.

Some sloppy defense hurt the Palomas. In the bottom of the third, with Vega Baja trailing 2-1, Emanuel Martínez was at the plate when Vega Baja scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Caneros to go in front, 3-2.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Vega Baja skipper Roberto Rojo. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
