Lozano Powers Leones to 14-8 Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Vieques Esqueletos and Ponce Leones get after it.

Gabriel Lozano was a vital contributor to the 14-8 Ponce victory over Vieques. The Leones left fielder went 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Pablo Torres, the winning pitcher, improved to 23-14. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 10 hits and 8 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Ernesto Ávalos, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

The Leones took a 11-8 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Vieques hurler Periandro Moreno with two outs, Lozano hit a 2-run single.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Lozano said. "That's how it goes."

With the win over Vieques, the Leones improved to 61-54.
