The Trujillo Alto Macabeos overcame a good performance by Barranquitas third baseman Jorge Navarro to knock off Barranquitas, 9-8, at Campo de los Macabeos. Navarro went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Trujillo Alto reliever Gerardo Martínez was the winner. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Felipe Gutiérrez. José Jiménez earned the save for Trujillo Alto, his 5th of the year.

San Juan, Puerto Rico-born Raúl Quinteros came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Macabeos trailing 8-7, he hit a 2-run single to right-center to put Trujillo Alto on top.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Barranquitas manager Baltasar Suazo. "But we decided not to take it."

The Macabeos saw their win-loss record go to 54-60. At the same time, the Proceres fell to 69-45.
