Manati and Mayaguez got after it at Parque de los Capitanes.

With first baseman Tristán Meza leading the charge, the Manati Atenienses defeated the Mayaguez Capitanes, 11-6, at Parque de los Capitanes. Meza went 3-4 with 3 singles. He scored 4 times and drove in 3. Tibulo Barahona was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 16 hits, with 5 walks and 1 strikeout.

Manati relied on the hitting of Federico Contreras to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the first inning to put the Atenienses on top, 2-0. For the game, Contreras had 2 triples and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Meza told a Manati Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The Atenienses saw their win-loss record go to 36-62. At the same time, the Capitanes fell to 64-34.
