Loiza left fielder Miguel Hernández had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Hernández was 5 for 6 with a double and 4 singles, while scoring 3 times, even as Barranquitas beat the Vejigantes, 8-7. Barranquitas reliever Ricardo Hernández was the winner. His record is now 7-1. The losing pitcher was Eufemio Martínez. At 57-37, the Proceres are currently first in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Este.

The Proceres relied on second baseman Luis Cruz for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring double to seal the deal.

"We had a chance to win," said Loiza manager Premislao Flores, "but we didn't get it done."
