Conquistadores Snag 4-3 Win
|
Guaynabo pitcher Isabelino Sánchez did his part in helping his team beat the Orocovis Caciques, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Sánchez, now 16-11, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 3 runs. Alejandro Hernández earned the save for Guaynabo, his 1st of the year.
Río Grande, Puerto Rico-born Ticiano Casas came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Conquistadores trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Guaynabo on top.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Sánchez.
The Conquistadores now have a record of 53-39 with the win over Orocovis.
