Reds Deal Cardinals 7-3 Setback
In the 7-3 Cincinnati win over St. Louis, the impact of Jack Boyle was substantial. Boyle, who is a two-time All-Star, was 2-2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. The loss has the Cardinals at 3-2.

Billy Earle dealt the Cardinals a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with a runner on 1st and Cincinnati leading 3-2, Earle, who led the NL in runs with 118 in 1891, hit a 2-0 curveball for a run-scoring triple.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Earle told a Cincinnati Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
