Beaneaters Sneak Past Pirates, 3-2
|
Boston Beaneaters starter Bob Black turned in a sterling performance against the Pittsburgh Pirates, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Bill Sowders earned the save for Boston, his 1st of the year. The Beaneaters, now 4-0, have hit the ground running this season.
Boston used the timely hitting of Chick Stahl to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Beaneaters on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Boston manager Adam Engelke.
