Spiders Lose Late, 3-2
Washington Senators starter Joe Corbett pitched his team past the Cleveland Spiders, 3-2. The Senators sit in 4th place in the American League with a record of 74-64.

Washington used the timely hitting of John Carney to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Senators on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Washington manager Pony Sager said.
