Starting pitcher Will Sawyer had a solid game. He was a big reason the Cleveland Spiders throttled the Columbus Solons, 3-2. The Spiders now have a record of 44-67.

When he came to bat in the bottom of the tenth, Joseph Herr had a chance to be the hero. Columbus pitcher Henry Boyle had other ideas. But with two outs, Herr reached on an error by the right fielder, driving in 1 run. The Spiders had themselves a dramatic win.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Columbus manager Fraley Rogers said following the tough loss.
