Corozal got a valiant performance from pitcher Ricardo Almirón, but it wasn't enough to beat the Culebra Tortugas. Culebra won the game, 4-3. Almirón threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Jesús López, credited with the win, is now 10-10. He allowed 3 runs on 11 hits in 9 innings. Culebra now owns a record of 36-41.

The Tortugas beat the Plataneros in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Vidal Martínez produced in the top of the eighth. Batting against Almirón, Martínez gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Martínez said.
