Capitanes Cut Down Reyes, 4-2

The Mayaguez Capitanes beat the Juana Diaz Reyes, 4-2. Mayaguez pitcher and Cataño, Puerto Rico, native Carmelo Urbina led the way. Urbina got the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. Urbina allowed 2 runs. The loss drops Juana Diaz to 6-2.
The Reyes had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Capitanes going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old center fielder Marco Antonio Rendón came to the plate. Rendón hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Juana Diaz hurler Laureano Torres. It was Rendón's 2nd double of the year.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Urbina told the Mayaguez Today.
