The Lares Patriotas topped the Rio Grande Cotorras, 8-7, in Liga Betances action at Estadio de las Cotorras. The game was highlighted by the performance of Lares third baseman Manuel Aguirre. The third-place Patriotas have a record of 32-43.

With Lares leading 7-4 in the top of the sixth, Aguirre hit a run-scoring single off Rio Grande hurler Julián Sánchez. It was the 70th hit of the season for Aguirre and put his team ahead, 8-4.

"We maximized our offense today," said Lares skipper Gilberto Mejía. "That makes everyone's life easier."
